Prince Harry and Meghan Markle share a Christmas card for 2022.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s celebratory note features a black and white photo of them holding hands, taken at the “Ripple of Hope” gala in New York earlier this month, where they were honored for standing up to racial injustice.

They wrote: “Happy holidays. From our family to yours, and on behalf of our teams at Archewell Foundation, Archewell Audio, and Archewell Productions, we wish you health, peace, and a Happy New Year.”

The agreement was signed: “Best wishes to Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

Royal fans were delighted with the pair’s photo, but couldn’t help but register an unusual detail: the absence of their two children. Archie, age three, and daughter Lilibet, now one, are featured on the couple’s 2021 Christmas card, in a photo by their wedding photographer Alexi Lubomirsky.

On that occasion, the photo — which was Lilibet’s first public photo after her birth in June 2021 — was taken of a family of four at home in Montecito, California.

It reads: “Happy Holidays. This year, 2021, we welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, into the world. We made Archie ‘Mama’ and ‘Papa’, and Lily made us family.”

On Twitter, fans responded to the photo with a social media user commenting: “Harry and Meghan just released their Christmas card for 2022. It’s beautiful.”

In response, another replied: “Could this be a card for those who supported Archewell? It seems a little strange that they wouldn’t have included their young children in the family Christmas card but it might just be me.”

A third asked, “Why no children?”

Another suggested it might have been an intentional move not to include their children, adding, “Do you guys think H&M separates their family life and work life for Archewell?”

However, many social media users praised the couple for sharing a sweet picture of themselves.

One wrote: “Beautiful couple, finally some freedom, and now hopefully some peace.”

Another post “They are such a beautiful couple!” And the third added “elegant and elegant.”

Both children have appeared frequently in the couple’s recent Netflix docuseries, featured in a series of family photos and videos.

In the series, Harry talks about consent. “As a parent and as a parent, I think consent is really a key part of this. If you have children, your consent should be in what you share.”

“We’ve been really mindful of protecting our children as best we can and also really understanding the role they play in this historic family,” Meghan added.
