Windows 11 22H2 Problems: FPS Drops, BSOD, Installation Hangs and Other Errors Plaguing Users

Windows 11 22H2 is somewhat stable compared to previous versions, but it causes serious problems for some users, including installation issues.

Some Windows 11 users are experiencing a choppy low frame rate, which is reportedly related to Nvidia graphics. Additionally, there are reports of blue screen of death and other errors in some cases as well.

Affected users believe that Windows 11 22H2 is causing the problem as the stuttering disappears when the feature update is uninstalled. As detailed by various reports on Reddit, our comment section and Microsoft’s comment center, the stuttering FPS arrives at random times and lasts for a few seconds.

In some cases, the frame rate per second remains constantly low and the audio is affected at the same time. This can be especially frustrating when your frame rate drops suddenly when you are about to win an online game or during a crucial moment. Affected games include Call of Duty and others.

What is particularly interesting about Windows 11 version 22H2 performance issues is that the feature update was tested by users in the Windows Insider Program before it was made available to everyone, and according to some posts on Reddit posts, users reported these issues earlier this year.

However, these reports appear to have been missed or ignored by Microsoft, and the update was released anyway.

It appears that Nvidia is looking into the reports and the company has requested additional data from affected users. Hopefully this problem is something that Nvidia and Microsoft are working together to try to fix, so it’s likely that a proper solution will be offered in the near future, most likely via a GeForce drivers update.

There is also a potential workaround to get rid of performance issues. In some cases, turning off a service called “Nvidia FrameView SDK” is claimed to solve the problem. To disable the FrameView SDK service, follow these steps:

  1. Open Windows Search.
  2. searching for “Services“.
  3. Press the ‘N’ key on the keyboard to filter the list of running processes.

  4. Locate a file Nvidia FrameView SDK Service And make sure it isn’t turned on.
  5. Reboot.

Disabling “Variable refresh rate and optimizations for framed games” also causes some people to stutter.

If you have already installed the Windows 11 2022 update and the vulnerabilities are not really disrupting your gaming experience, you can wait and wait for the hotfix expected in a few weeks.

Blue screen of death error affects some computers

In some rare cases, users also encounter a blue screen of exception error.

“I got the blue screen of death (irql_not_less_or_equal) while installing the update which caused about 50% of the update. One affected user noticed that the blue screen of death was stuck at 100%, so I had to shutdown my computer.

You can always fix the problem by uninstalling the feature update by opening Settings and heading to the Recovery menu.

Needless to say, this is a somewhat embarrassing issue for Microsoft, especially since the FPS issue had to be discovered before the Windows 11 2022 Update was released to the public.
