  • The Portuguese star reportedly told the club an offer was waiting
  • This despite United having received no inquiries for their star player
  • Ronaldo would have asked the club to give him his transfer value

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly told Manchester United he has an offer on the table to leave the club this summer.

The Sun has claimed the Portuguese superstar who wants to leave Old Trafford, has urged United chiefs to name their price for him, so he can trigger a move by the end of the transfer window.

This comes despite a number of top European clubs, including Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, distancing themselves from signing the 37-year-old and United not receiving any enquiries.

Ronaldo, alongside his agent Jorge Mendes, held confrontational talks with the United hierarchy this week – after he informed the club of his intention to leave earlier this summer.

Mendes is said to have informed the club that Ronaldo had a ‘live offer’ and a transfer fee was to be named for his star.

The report doesn’t specify which team is interested in signing Ronaldo.

As well as Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Napoli have also been linked with Ronaldo this summer.

Sportsmail reported on Wednesday that Ronaldo had asked to be released from his £360,000-a-week contract before his final year.

United replied that they had no desire to sell him and maintained that there had been no change in their position, and that they had received no enquiries.

The Sun added that the Red Devils “reacted” to the suggestion that they let Ronaldo go free by terminating his contract, due to what was described as his “loyalty” to the club.

Ronaldo only returned to Carrington on Tuesday after missing United’s entire pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia.

The club had hoped to win Ronaldo but talks failed to change his mind about wanting a furlough – although he will continue professionally.

The talks failed to change the 37-year-old’s mind on his wish to leave but he will continue in a professional manner.

He underwent medical tests and then trained on Wednesday before seeing his team-mates in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Wrexham.

It was thought that this weekend’s double friendly against Atletico Madrid on Saturday in Oslo and Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford on Sunday might come too soon.

But it’s believed Ronaldo could have his eye on Rayo Vallecano’s, which will feature more of a second string.

He worked hard in the gym after being excused from the tour for family reasons.

But as a result, Ronaldo hasn’t been immersed in Ten Hag’s methods before the new season and will have to be gradually reinstated.
