Warzone Pacific July 28 Patch Notes: Major Sniper Rifle Buffs, Serpentine Nerf, Bug Fixes

Warzone developers Raven Software released a patch on July 28 to deliver the teased Serpentine nerf from the Season 4 Reloaded patch notes, improve sniper rifles, and remove a few bug fixes.

Warzone Pacific Season 4 Reloaded arrived on July 27, bringing the all-new Vargo-S assault rifle, Rebirth of the Dead mode, and Titanium Trials mode later in the season.

It didn’t take long for Raven Software developers to drop another update, with another patch arriving on July 28th. This update improves every sniper rifle in the game and delivers the Serpentine nerf teased in the patch notes.

Improved sniper rifles in July 28 Warzone update

Warzone’s sniper rifles received a major nerf in the Season 3 update, reducing their range and removing some weapons’ ability to headshot at any range.

This one-shot headshot range has now been extended across the board, so faster sniper rifles should be more effective, especially on Rebirth and Fortune’s Keep. But, heavy snipers should always be the benchmark in Caldera.

Serpentine Perk nerfed in July 28 Warzone update

Players have complained about Serpentine since its arrival in Season 3 Reloaded, claiming it’s the “dumbest” perk ever added to CoD.

Following the Season 4 Reloaded update, Raven delivered on her promise and reduced her damage reduction from 20% to 15%, where it’s “still a valuable perk, but has less of an impact on TTK medium”.

WEAPONS

Weapon Adjustments

We have seen a positive change in kill metrics since the Snipers update in Season Three. The intent was to lean into smaller maps favoring aggressive snipers versus heavier ones being more suited to the large map. Our data shows that despite a lower adoption rate (~9.5%), snipers are still recognized with a competitive kill count compared to the most popular weapon class.

However, we would like to look into the weapon to better map out the identity, and as such all snipers receive about one 35% bonus at their maximum damage range. Lighter rifles, with their damage range builds, will now more reliably cover typical lines of sight found on the Isle of Rebirth and Fortune’s Keep. The goal is not to have the fastest ADS snipers be the dominant weapon in all scenarios. Therefore, if things start to move in that direction, we will make targeted changes to the other stats of these notable weapons.

ADVANTAGES

serpentine

  • Damage reduction reduced to 15%, down from 20%

We’ve seen positive adoption of Serpentine in loadouts, and as such the average encounter time has increased. We’re reducing the damage mitigation bonus so it’s still a valuable perk, but has less of an impact on average TTK. We will monitor this space closely and make further adjustments as needed.

BUGS FIXES

  • Fixed an issue on Fortune’s Keep making gas harder to see than intended.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed players to exploit Weapon Exchange Stations.
  • Fixed an issue that caused deployable Buy Stations to remain active in gas, allowing for unintended exploits.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Skål Crusher (VG) from having a Zombies Mastery Camo section available.
  • Fixed an issue causing incorrect unlock criteria to appear for “The Vault” vehicle skin in the vehicle customization menu.
  • Fixed collision issues with AI Mercenaries during the Silver Mining event on Fortune’s Keep.

The Warzone devs have also confirmed they’ll be nerfing the sun in Caldera, and you can also find out how to unlock the new Ultra weapon camos later in the season.
