Internet roasting in Biden’s car for appearing next to a Corvette Z06 for an EV tweet

President Joe Biden paid a visit to the floor of the Detroit auto show on Wednesday, taking the time to see the latest from American automakers up close. Among the most interesting parts of his tour was when he got behind the wheel of the new 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, started it and gave it some laps. Later that day, Biden’s official Twitter account posted a tweet talking about electrical The cars he’s seen closely that gave him “many reasons to be optimistic about our future” along with the Z06 photo. Unsurprisingly, the Twitter car went crazy.

In case you weren’t aware, the Corvette Z06 isn’t an electric car. It’s far from one actually. Behind the cabin is a 5.5-liter flat-top V-8 engine that can hit 8,600 rpm while producing 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Unlike an electric car, it burns gasoline and makes a great noise. Here is a selection of the reactions from the internet so far about the confusion:

Aside from this incident, Biden has already checked out a few electric cars on the show floor, and has shown some optimism about the future of electric cars. We also have a strong feeling that he wasn’t the one who penned this tweet. Alternatively, it’s possible that Biden’s team social media manager isn’t as familiar with the Corvette as he is. Whoever incorrectly constructed this tweet identified the Corvette as electric in the photo description:

We can understand that this might be a bit confusing for some. Chevy announced in April that it would be building an all-electric Corvette, so whoever coined this tweet could have assumed the Z06 was the EV’ Vette in question. Unfortunately, this was not the case. And the internet came into play to make sure they knew.
