Tennessee vs Florida – Picks in

Tennessee State is looking for its second win over the Gators in the last 18 attempts. The Vols enter Saturday’s game as a top double as the world of college football steps up on Neyland Stadium and Rocky Top. Volquest employees present their game choices.

Brent choice

Josh Heupel says there is no mental obstacle for his team to overcome in terms of this game. That’s good because there are a lot of us who have seen this match for years and have that obstacle.

why? Because Tennessee lost this game in almost every imaginable way. From Gaffney’s no catch/catch to 4’s and 19’s and Mary’s salutes to a 10-9 loss to a team without a real quarterback playing. I found Tennessee away from work.

Even in 2016, the Vols had to recover from a double deficit in the first half because they played so poorly to start the game.

Can Tennessee get out of the gates? Josh Heupel’s history is that his bands get started quickly. A quick start would put a lot of pressure on Florida and Anthony Richardson and send a frenzied fan base into sheer frenzy.

I think Florida is playing its best game of the year so far because that’s what history says, but will that be enough.

The alligator ventril miller is missing a lot in the middle. Can Vols members take advantage of some unbelievable running games and hit run collection.

Tennessee has been here before. The stage is set. The world is watching. Gameday in town. They have achieved and failed as well. In 2012, Derek Dooley with his powerful attack could not do that. Butch Jones rallied in 2016 to do just that.

The Vols are the best team in 2022. They are the best quarterback and they are huge which is why I prefer Tennessee and everyone expects them to win.

The truth is, Tennessee has to win, but you know me, I have to see it to believe it.

Austin’s Choice

If you’ve ever seen Men in Black 3, you might remember that there is a character named Griffin who sees all these different scenarios of events beforehand. That’s how Vol fans feel, in my opinion. They have seen all these different scenarios for the outcome of tomorrow’s match. why? Because they saw a number of different endings in this wild and crazy rivalry.

Cedric Tillman won’t be available tomorrow so others will have to step it up. Bru McCoy is the natural fit for an extended role. Jalen Hyatt needs to keep playing well. Tennessee also has to run well in this ball just to relieve the pressure on Hendon Hooker. I think this also works with Hooker playing in the back himself.

The audience has to play their part but frankly this is in Tennessee to give them a reason to be there throughout the game. Florida has never been more attractive, but Tennessee State has been the better team a few times over the past decade and has found ways to lose.

So what is the scenario that will happen tomorrow? I know Rob sees it as a blast. I certainly think it could be but a win is a win.

We are all aware of the Tennessee struggles in this series. The Vols have lost 16 of the last 17 in this series and haven’t won it since 2016.

Some feel that a mental hurdle exists for Tennessee in the series. I don’t buy that. This is a new day for the program in Josh Hubbell’s sophomore year and I don’t think Tennessee carries any emotional weight this year.

Likewise, this Florida team in one year with a new coach plays only its fourth game in a new system. Some may disagree, but I don’t think the date matters that much coming on Saturday.

Josh Dobbs was under The Vols center that day in 2016 and threw for 319 yards and four touchdowns while running for an extra 80 yards and one point. Incidentally, this was the last time Tennessee played a competent and consistent quarterback until Hendon Hooker took over the job last fall.

Whore is the difference to me in this game no matter who is available to attack. Tennessee has a huge advantage in the quarterback. Yes, it would be a hit if Tillman couldn’t play, anyway, but Hooker still had weapons. If Small is finite or far, it’s mostly about depth in my opinion because I don’t see much reduction from it to Jaylen Wright.

Defensively, it’s all about not letting Richardson go crazy. Tennessee coaches have repeatedly talked about maintaining integrity on the rushing lanes and that should be a priority. Don’t let him separate and hurt him with his legs. Kentucky pretty much sat down and dared Richardson to hit them with his arm and couldn’t do it. This is a scheme everyone in the SEC is likely to follow until someone pays for it.

The Vols is going to be playing totally insane this weekend. Nieland Stadium will be a powder keg waiting to explode on Saturday afternoon. If Tennessee can give this crowd something to get the early Rocky Top excited, it will swing in a way it hasn’t in years and it might be a long day for Florida.

This is a big one. When was the last time you had that much confidence in Tennessee vs. Florida? A minute has passed. In fact, a few minutes have passed. But that’s what it was this week. Tons and tons of confidence.

I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. Understand your place in the series (five-game losing skater, 16 out of 17), but knowing the past also doesn’t dictate the future. There are new players on the sidelines. There are new coaches on the sidelines. You have two teams on opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of trust.

Florida is better than the two MAC teams Tennessee have hit this season. That’s why I feel Pittsburgh’s win was so important. The Vols found a way to win late in that game (well, I guess in overtime) when nothing was going their way offensively. This team has prepared for days like tomorrow when things don’t always go their way.

I might oversimplify this, but Tennessee has a good quarterback and now, Anthony Richardson is not a good quarterback. The sky’s the limit for the 6-foot-6, 235-pound athlete, but he’s having some serious front-pass issues right now and he’s almost unconfident.

If Tillman can’t go, that’s a blow. But I still love the volumes with Jalin Hyatt and Bru McCoy. I’m intrigued to see what this quick defense looks like against a team that manages the ball well with three different defences. Can Tennessee follow the Kentucky scheme and keep Richardson in the pocket?

I think he will play better tomorrow and I think this match will be a tough fight. It has never been easy with Florida. But Tennessee is a better soccer team and they have a better midfielder. Let’s see if I’m an idiot come Monday, but give me the folders.
