Citizen Releases Avatar Watches Celebrate one of the most expensive films in the world

long awaited movie, Avatar: Water Road It debuted just two weeks ago. A sequel to Avatar released in 2009, the new movie has been in the making for years and three years to be completed, shot underwater to the high technical standards of director James Cameron (think Titanic). To celebrate the new film, Disney’s Citizen, which has an ongoing partnership with Disney, is unveiling its first watch collection inspired by the sci-fi film.

Designed to evoke the coral reefs and aquatic life of the Focus family in the film, the three watches offer exciting colors or scenes on the dials. As a men’s watch, women’s watch, and unisex watch, they’re all powered by Citizen’s Eco-Drive light technology – reinforcing the brand’s commitment to sustainability. Light powered watches mean there is no battery to replace.

The unisex Wave watch, Avatar Pandora, features the most detailed scenes on the dial of the three watches. It depicts the landscape of Pandora, and features a blue sea with waves and coral reefs with marine life. In the background is a vibrant green mountain and a yellow sunset surrounded by hues of orange and purple. The silver sunray dial features a blue outer ring with hour markers. The watch is made of stainless steel, accented with a brown sustainable leather strap and is water resistant to 100 metres.

Dubbed by Citizen as a women’s watch, the Avatar Tree of Souls features a multicolored blue/purple dial with pink “Tree of Souls” motifs. The Soul Tree is supposed to be Ewa’s closest alliance on Pandora. Crystal markers and luminous hands. Paired with a black leather strap to complement the black IP coated stainless steel case, this watch is water resistant to 50 meters.

The Avatar Wave men’s watch is a dive-inspired stainless steel watch with a stainless steel bracelet. Impressive at a glance, is the harbor’s rich ocean blue with a silvery sea creature known as Leonpteryx – which is used for transportation – taking center stage. The dial is surrounded by a colored turquoise ring and the two-tone turquoise and black minute track ring keeps track of the 24-hour position. The watch has color-coordinated luminous hands in white and turquoise and is a monochromatic chronograph with a duration of up to 60 minutes. It also offers dual time zones, perpetual calendar, and 100m water resistance. Each of the three Citizen Avatar watches is powered by light and sells for between $250 and $325.
