Emma Bunton has been left ‘heartbroken’ after being forced to cancel two shows from her ceremonial tour on Friday and Saturday due to her health.

The former Spice Girl, 46, has not revealed the nature of her illness but has told fans she is unable to perform and doctors have advised her not to go ahead with shows.

“I am absolutely devastated,” she said, as she took to Instagram to apologize to fans and share her sadness over the cancellation of shows scheduled in York and Birmingham.

Emma was due to perform at the York Barbican on Friday but canceled the show 90 minutes before the show, while on Saturday morning she announced that her evening show at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall would also not go ahead.

Writing an emotional message to her fans, the singer shared the news via a series of Instagram Stories and Tweets on Friday night.

She wrote: “Please accept my sincere apologies, The York Christmas Show cannot go on tonight. My doctor has advised me that I cannot do this. I am totally devastated and will see you again very soon xx’

Adding that this was the first time since her rise to fame over 25 years ago, Emma continued that she “couldn’t stop crying.”

Never in my entire career have I had to cancel a party and I can’t stop crying. I tried so hard to make it happen tonight. Thank you all for your lovely messages of support.”

Then Emma updated fans on Saturday morning with a tearful selfie, writing above it that The Birmingham Show won’t go on either.

I feel like I let so many of you down today and left my heart broken. With rest and medication I wake up each morning with hope. Birmingham, I’m here but unfortunately I won’t be able to perform tonight on doctors orders.

She concluded, “I am overwhelmed with all the support and love from my fans. I love you all very much.’

Emma hit the stage to perform in Manchester on Monday, before putting on a sensational show in Brighton on Tuesday.

And while she didn’t say anything about subsequent shows, Baby Spice is set to wrap up her tour in London on Monday, December 19th.
