‘It’s worth seeing the kids happy’: Kate Garraway gets into the festive spirit as she squeezes a 6-foot Christmas tree into the trunk of her car

Kate Garraway shared a funny update after she was able to squeeze a 6-foot tall Christmas tree into the trunk of a car on Tuesday.

The Good Morning host, 55, posed for a photo in front of Percy Bejo as she excitedly clung to a festive fir tree.

Referring to the classic hit, The Twelve Days of Christmas, Kate explains that the ordeal took five shop workers, four neighbors, and three parents to collect the tree.

Despite the effort, Kate said it was worth seeing the smiles on the faces of her two children, Darcy and William.

She wrote: “So they say it takes a village to raise a child…but how much it takes to ‘raise’ a Christmas tree.”

“Well in my case (now singing together)…” 5 grumpy shop workers, 4 helpful neighbors, 3 overworked parents, 2 excited kids and not a partridge in a pear tree, but a #peugeot308sw with surprisingly big boots.

“Even my mom didn’t believe I could get a 6ft tree but I knew my Percy Pigeon wouldn’t let me down!!” Swipe right to see the final result! So worth it to see the kids so happy – finally ready for #Christmas – well ‘ish’

It comes after Kate’s meltdown when she discussed husband Derek Draper’s health battle during an appearance on Friday in Lorraine.

The TV presenter admitted there was “no end point” to his care and that her new way of life could be “stressful” for those around her.

Derek is one of the UK’s hardest-hit Covid patients having been hospitalized with the virus in March 2020, only returning to the family home in London in April 2021, where he is receiving round the clock care.

“The thing is, when it’s a drawn-out fight like with Derek, there’s no end point and it can be stressful for the people around me, too,” she told host Lorraine Kelly.

“I know sometimes people say ‘Oh she’s talking about that again’ but what I’ve learned is that only you really know how you feel when you’re in it.”

Before I add: “And now thousands and thousands of people are reaching out to me who make me feel less lonely.”

Discussing Derek’s current state of health after she was hospitalized with sepsis, she said, “Oh, I mean you know, it’s a prolonged attack.”

I can see his days are better, and his days are worse. He’s happily home now. It was a long battle to get him home again.
