Lionel Messi and his team mates in Argentina were pictures of happiness when they returned to Buenos Aires with the World Cup.
The Paris Saint-Germain superstar helped lead La Applicability to their third World Cup victory on Sunday night with a penalty shootout victory over France after a 3-3 draw.
Messi rarely let the trophy leave his side in the last few hours, so he grabbed it hard on Argentina’s trip to Buenos Aires.
The 35-year-old posted a picture of himself carrying the trophy on the plane to his Instagram on Monday afternoon.
He was flooded with comments from his nearly 400 million followers, one of whom said, “Let’s go, champ.”
Another said: “Best ever!”
Another said: “The greatest time.”
Someone said: “The best in the world.”
Another echoed: “The greatest player of all time.”
Someone said: “The greatest.”

“Immortal,” said another of Messi’s loyal followers.
In the end, Messi allowed his teammates to have a chance at carrying the trophy at 30,000 feet.
Former and current Manchester United stars Angel Di Maria and Lisandro Martinez also appeared with the iconic Gold Cup as they took to the skies.
Aston Villa keeper and extra-time hero Amy Martinez – who made an incredible save to deny the French victory in the dying moments – stood with the trophy and appeared to be on cloud nine.
Messi over the moon reacted to the historic victory on Instagram a few hours after the thrilling match.
Along with a series of snaps of himself holding the trophy, he wrote: “WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!.
“So many times I’ve dreamed about it, I’ve wanted it so much that I still don’t fall, I can’t believe it…
“Thank you so much to my family, to everyone who supports me and also to everyone who believed in us.
“We prove once again that the Argentines, when we fight together and unite, we are able to achieve what we aim for.
“The advantage of this group, which is superior to individuals, is the strength of all who fight for the same dream that was also one of all Argentines…
“WE DID IT!!! LET’S GO TO ARGENTINA FUCK!!!!!
“We see each other very soon.”
Messi sparked his international retirement ahead of the Qatar 2022 tournament, but has made an iterative U-turn since then, telling TyC Sports: “I am not retiring from the Argentina national team.
“I want to continue playing like a champion.”
