Next James Bond race stops as Tom Hardy lags behind

No Time To Die hit theaters last year and brought a brutal end to Daniel Craig’s era in the James Bond franchise. After 15 years and five movies, the British star has finally moved on after his hero version is murdered. Now, a search is underway for a new actor to embody 007 for the foreseeable future. An official announcement is likely to come in the next couple of years; And while Tom Hardy has been a relative favorite in the Bond odds for some time, he may have missed his chance.

Hardy has become a fan favorite in the past few years, especially after rumors circulated that he had already been cast as the super spy behind the scenes.

The Venom star has been questioned about becoming Bond in recent years, but he insists he keep quiet.

He said, “You know, there’s a saying among us in the acting fraternity, and in the fellowship of my mates, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the running. If you mention it, it’s over.”

While we’re not sure if we agree with that sentiment, he added that he thinks Christopher Nolan would make a great director for a new Bond movie.

With that said, the odds of Hardy becoming the new and improved James Bond are currently 7/1 from Ladbrokes’.

While these are certainly strong odds, it by no means makes him a sure bet. At the moment, these odds put Hardy in fourth place in the top ten list of 007 candidates.

Before him was Bridgerton’s heartthrob, Reggie Jean Page, riding on strong 6/1 with Ladbrokes third in the betting.

The British-Zimbabwean actor has become quite popular in recent years, not only starring in Netflix’s The Gray Man, but also starring in the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons movie.

He himself said that these possibilities were only “flattering”, but left him an unlikely candidate.

And standing in front of him in second place is the famous Superman star, Henry Cavill.

Cavill recently made headlines when it was revealed that he would not only be leaving The Witcher series, but would no longer be playing Clark Kent in the DC Comics movies.

With his schedule now fully open, this is the perfect time for Cavill to jump into the tuxedo and become the next best James Bond.

And with amazing odds of 5/2, his chances are very good.

However, there is one major player standing in his way: Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Taylor-Johnson has been a mainstay in British cinema for years. Not only did he play John Lennon in the biopic Nowhere Boy, but he also became an important part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Scarlet Witch’s brother, Pietro Maximoff.

Most recently, he went toe-to-toe with Brad Pitt in Bullet Train and fought crime in the Kick-Ass series.

After some surprising bets in his favor, Taylor-Johnson became the favorite for the next 007 role, with incredible odds of 2/1.

Alex Abbate of Ladbrokes said: “Our dealers have been somewhat scratching their heads after seeing Aaron Taylor-Johnn jump to the head of the betting, but he still holds the lead in the race to replace Daniel Craig, with Henry Cavill now the closest competitor to 007 Gala.”
