‘I’m so excited’: Patsy Kensit makes her EastEnders debut as Lola Pearce’s mother Emma Harding on Tuesday

Although the appearance was brief, Patsy’s time will certainly be eventful as she will be part of the emotional story that will see Lola lose her battle with terminal brain cancer.

Patsy revealed that appearing in the BBC series was “always a dream” of hers.

She said: ‘I am so excited to be visiting Walford for this story. It has always been my dream to appear in EastEnders.

The cast, producers, writers, and crew were all great, and I had a ball. Thank you very much for having me.’

A source told The Sun: ‘Boss are delighted to have been able to get Patsy for the role.

“She’s an amazing actress and is about to play a role in one of their biggest current stories.”

MailOnline has contacted representatives for EastEnders and Patsy for comment.

Her character Emma had not appeared in the series before, having abandoned Lola (Daniel Harrold) and her father when her daughter was only three.

Danielle, who plays Lola, is preparing to quit the soap after the storyline.

Back in 2019, former model Patsy tells of her desire to head to Walford and become the new Peggy Mitchell.

She told the Radio Times: ‘I love doing EastEnders, my dad was involved in organized crime in the East End so I grew up around bad guys and that kind of background. I can pull out a pint and say, “You’re off limits.”

On whether she could ever step into the shoes of the late, legendary landlady, she said: “I think so! I’m not insulting Barbara Windsor because I think she’s so gorgeous. But I’d like to play a really strong lady.”

She added, “I have a lot of energy, so I’d like to go out with a real bang and play someone like that.”

Patsy has real ties to the East End, having grown up around organized crime with her brother’s godfather even being notorious gangster Reggie Kray.

In addition, her father—who was called Jimmy the Dipp for his pickpocketing tendencies—was a partner in the Kray Twins.

She was raised in a council house and in her autobiography Absolute Beginner she says she had to flee to Paris because her father was a runaway.

“Having to flee our home in this way could have been a huge shock to a child, but it didn’t scare me,” she said in 2013.

To be honest, I found it all very exciting. I couldn’t understand why my mom seemed so sad the whole time we were away. Now, of course, I know it was because my dad was a runaway.
