A woman from London went to New York for the summer and never returned after falling in love on the first date–now she’s married to her Hinge match and expecting a baby after only five months.;
31-year-old Angelica Malin booked a solo trip to the Big Apple in February 2022 to write a book and explore the city, but unfortunately her father passed away unexpectedly, and so she rearranged to go in June.
The change of plans put her in the right place at the right time to match dating app Hinge with Josh, 35, a Brooklyn-based attorney and the couple felt sparks fly from the moment they met.
After only three dates, Josh asked Angelica to move to New York so they could build a life together.

“We matched on a dating app on a Sunday and by Tuesday we were on our first date at a rooftop cocktail bar in Chinatown,” said Angelica.
Before we got in I was standing on the sidewalk outside the building because I had arrived early to meet Josh so I saw him standing in his car and suddenly all the clichés about love at first sight were true.
“He came out of the cab and I thought, ‘This is the best guy I’ve ever seen.'”

Angelica admitted she was tired of playing the dating world and explicitly asked Josh about his hopes for the future on their second date.
Josh later told me that when he saw me he could feel time slowing down.
Honestly, we felt like we were in the cinema.
“It was everything I could hope for when I was single.”
Angelica says she booked the flight to New York to embrace her freedom as a woman in her 30s who has yet to settle down like many of her friends of the same age.
“Before booking in New York,” she said, “I had written a book called Unattached—all about why being single is such an empowering thing, and I thought it was time for me to live by those values.”

The couple wasn’t bothered about having a big wedding and got the first available date so they could usher in 2023 as husband and wife.
All of my friends were getting married and busy having kids, and I didn’t want to feel like I was missing out on a life-changing experience while I was hoping to meet the right man.
“When I told my best friend my plans she laughed and told me I was going to fall in love and it turns out she was right.”
After their first date on July 19 of this year, Angelica and Josh agreed to meet again that week.
She said: ‘After our first date went well, Josh took me to the subway and we kissed on the busy street in Chinatown.

Everything around us was very busy and honestly it smelled a bit musty, but it was very New York and very romantic.
I asked when we would meet each other next and we agreed that Friday.
On only their second date, Angelica decided to wear her heart on her sleeve and with a Dutch sip of cocktails at Soho House raised the prospect of marriage and family in their future.
She said: I asked him theoretically if he wanted to have children in the future?
I’m done playing a little bit in the dating world, it was so exciting to me and I wanted to put my cards on the table.

I told him, “I think we have something special,” and he agreed.
The couple had another date in town before inclement weather ruined their plans and Josh invited Angelica to his apartment.
‘Being at Josh’s apartment and sitting next to each other on the couch felt like the most natural and comfortable thing in the world,’ she said.
We realized that we completely fell in love with each other.
From that moment we started talking about building a life together, including having children and getting married, it just wasn’t fast enough.

Josh asked Angelica if she was considering moving to New York to be with him on their third date and she didn’t hesitate to say yes
Later we ordered a takeaway and took it to eat on Josh’s rooftop terrace in Brooklyn. There is a great view of the horizon as the sun was setting.
Josh says he got really nervous but didn’t show it. He only asked me: “Will you move here for me?”
And I said yes without hesitation.
“After only a few weeks I came home to London to pack up my flat and move to New York indefinitely.”
Angelica hosted a farewell dinner for 12 of her friends and gave away some of the things she couldn’t take, then packed or shipped the rest of her belongings.

Once back in New York, she and Josh waste no time in starting the rest of their lives together.
After just five months of dating, in December, they got married at City Hall and are now expecting their first child this coming June.
‘With marriage we just got our first possible date, we didn’t mind when it was like that, we really wanted to be husband and wife as soon as possible to see in 2023 as a couple,’ said Angelica.

We asked the photographer to take some shots that usually cover sports, and he only charged us $100.
But for us it was the perfect day.
“After that, we went home and ate sushi in bed.”
Angelica says her family and friends have all been supportive of her although some resent that she now lives so far away.
“My close friends have had to miss out on some huge moments like our wedding,” she said, “but I try to include them as much as possible.”
After our party, we went home and all my video chat friends were ready to toast me with a drink.

“We can still have really special moments of connection even though I’m so far apart now.
“In January my mom will visit us and she will meet Josh’s family for the first time in person.”
Looking ahead, Angelica says the couple have plans to move into a larger home to meet their needs as a new family of three, and then they may plan a wedding in 2024 to bring their family together to celebrate.
She added, “We are so happy to leave 2022 married with a baby on the way, when I was single five months ago.
“Falling pregnant was faster and easier than we expected and we felt so blessed.
Our child is a very lovable child.
“I want to share our story to tell others that if you keep your heart open and if you are brave enough to ask for what you want, you just might get it.”
