This is the shocking moment two men wade through a fountain to catch money that shoppers have thrown for a children’s charity.

Police are looking for the sassy duo who were caught on video climbing the Emett Clock fountain at Nottingham’s Victoria Centre.

The footage shows how disgusted shoppers gasp in horror as men fill their pockets with handfuls of coins donated by well-wishers.

Chloe Shannon, 24, was out shopping with her three kids when she pictured the duo around 6pm on Saturday.

Shannon, from Kimberley, Nottingham, said: “I couldn’t believe it. My three-year-old son turned to me and asked why they were doing this, and I had to tell him they were being naughty.

I didn’t know how to explain it. How can they [take] From the children’s charity Out of Me.

“I just can’t believe it and it didn’t play at all especially since it’s so close to Christmas.”

Coins thrown into the fountain served as “little wishes” with donations received from children’s charities in the city.

Ms Shannon added: ‘My children and I were shopping at the Victoria Centre.

We were on the second floor about to leave to go to the parking lot when we came across the wishing well.

We noticed two little guys had jumped into the wishing well and started collecting pennies.

That’s when I stopped and started recording. There was no security at all. Looks like someone called the police, but I don’t know if that happened. It was horrific to watch.

The shocking video was shared on Facebook more than 6,000 times and caused nearly 1,000 reactions.

Users in the comments showed their disgust at the men’s actions.

“Really? What’s wrong with people?” said one user, Debs Melanie.

Another Pamela Smith said: “This is horrible. Where is the security?

A third user, Jack Burns, asked, “Why hasn’t anyone pulled them off.”

Meanwhile, a Center Victoria spokesperson said: ‘We can confirm an incident occurred at the center on Saturday 17th December.

Apparently two people went up to the fountain of Emett’s watch, and took some coins that were thrown there.

“ For many years, our shoppers have made “little wishes” at Emett Clock, with all donations made to our chosen charities.

It’s upsetting for everyone to see the blatant disregard for the generosity of others and the vital work that our city’s charities do – especially as Christmas approaches.

“The CCTV footage has been handed over to Nottinghamshire Police and anyone with information about the incident should contact them directly.”
