Simon Jordan accuses FIFA and Gianni Infantino of ‘CRONYISM’ after Salt Bae’s antics

Simon Jordan has accused FIFA of nepotism after the actions of celebrity chef Salt Pie, who took part in Argentina’s on-field celebrations after their World Cup victory.

Salt Bae – real name is Nusret Gokce – was photographed with the World Cup and took pictures with many of Argentina’s stars at Lusail Stadium.

In a series of videos posted to his Instagram, the famous steak chef interrupted the likes of Angel di Maria, Cristian Romero, and Lisandro Martinez while they were at the World Cup, leaving the trio looking rather awkward as a result.

Simon Jordan accused FIFA of nepotism after Salt Bay’s (above) actions on the field at the World Cup final, with the celebrity chef known to be a friend of President Gianni Infantino.

The chef was also seen desperately trying to get Lionel Messi’s attention, although the player didn’t seem keen on talking to him, before making another attempt to pull the Argentine towards him – he eventually got a picture with the 35-year-old but Messi didn’t seem too pleased with that.

Gokce is known to be a close friend of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and has already breached the FIFA’s strict regulations regarding who is allowed to touch the World Cup.

“Its current design dates back to 1974,” says FIFA’s website. As one of the world’s most recognizable sporting symbols and an invaluable icon, the authentic FIFA World Cup can only be touched and carried by a very select group of people, including former FIFA World Cup winners and heads of state. “.

Jordan slammed FIFA after Salt Bay’s actions on Sunday, arguing it was an abuse of their power.

“Maybe he thought he had a stake in the action,” the former Crystal Palace boss joked on talkSPORT, referring to the steakhouse in Salt Bae.

“Of course it’s nepotism. It certainly is. You look at him and say, ‘Why is this happening?’ Then you see where Infantino eats when he’s there.

‘It’s absurd.’ It’s a silly look. We have Messi wearing a traditional Arab cloak, which is strange but I understand why they did that.

“Now we have these superstar chefs who have beef because they go all out on the pitch.

It defies convention, it breaks protocol. It looks like nepotism, it smells like nepotism, it walks and talks like nepotism, so guess what it is? It’s a bleeding nepotism.

It’s unprofessional. There is no place for him. He shouldn’t have been on the field.

Infantino has also received criticism for his role in the World Cup, with the manager making several outlandish remarks during an hour-long speech earlier in the tournament, while also appearing to be front and center during Argentina’s trophy lift.

Jordan believes that the reputation of the FIFA president has been damaged by his behavior in Qatar.

He added, “What does FIFA do? When they walk around the city, they really let you know they’re there. It’s like the Vatican has fallen in some places.”

I’m surprised they want this kind of scrutiny. With his gum-flapping nature, Infantino has drawn attention to everything FIFA does. So you want the look to be just right.

You want standards to be upheld. You don’t need a quality cook running around the field, putting his arm around a player who just won the World Cup. Not necessary and not the look we want.

Salt Bae was thrust into the spotlight again in 2017 after an iconic video of him sprinkling salt on a steak went viral online.

Since then, the 39-year-old has developed friendships with several high-profile celebrities, including a number of football stars who regularly visit his restaurants, where he charges £1,450 for a steak.

He was also photographed with official approval from FIFA while on the pitch, although the board has not commented on how this happened.

In light of Salt Bae’s inconvenient behaviour, FIFA is facing questions about his access to the field as well as his behaviour.
