Strictly’s Helen Skelton admits ‘every single pro’ wants partner Gorka Marquez to win

Hamza Yassin was crowned the Strictly Come Dancing winner of Saturday’s Grand Final.

Fellow finalist Helen Skelton said her and partner Gorka Marquez’s face showed “how far” they had not lifted the Glitterball Cup.

She was speaking after viewers noticed Gorka being “angry” in the final, saying that “every professional on the show” was desperate for him to win – having previously reached the final twice without success.

The dancer joined her Radio 5 show on Monday and told listeners: ‘Every professional on the show has been desperate about winning and that says it all about it.

Adding, “He’s my hero of the week.”

And she continued her talk about Hamza’s victory: “Obviously, we are happy with Hamza because he performed some great dances during the season.

Speaking of fans spotting his unhappy expression when the results were announced, Gorka said, ‘I wasn’t angry but I wanted Helen to end the season on a cherry.

“I was happy for Hamza and Guetta, they were great.”

Hamza and Joita were crowned winners of the hit show, despite landing at the bottom of the leaderboard thanks to Showdance which he had previously described as “disappointing”.

“Gurkha is furious and rightfully so! Helen has won in so many ways. Good on her and she is the winner,” a fan tweeted.

Another fan added, “Gorkha is absolutely pissed and rightly so.”

Gorka was previously a finalist alongside Maisie Smith in 2020 and Alexandra Burke in 2017.

Although upset Gorka’s flowing message thanked the fans and the partner Helen Skelton for the 2022 series on Sunday.

The professional dancer showed no hard feelings as he congratulated Hamza Yassin and Guetta Przystal on their victory.
