Janelle Monae revealed how she and the cast of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery — out on Netflix from December 23 — unleashed their love of murder mysteries while filming. How did you dress for the occasion?

In a new interview with Yahoo UK, the award-winning actress/singer describes how the cast got together to play murder mystery games, something she describes as “alley right.”

During breaks in filming “we would play murder mystery games while we were on set. I would dress up, wear a mustache with a little curl at the end, a wand and a hat.

“They would ask me if I had traveled with all this and why I was up for it. I told them ‘I live like this! ‘” “

She has made the group her home from home, as she loves to play games of all kinds. “I play a lot of games like The Mafia and Werewolf, which are murder mystery games. I get dressed up and invite people.”

She also enjoys board games like backgammon and rummycope, and admits “I’m very competitive. I try to turn that side of me off, but it’s there.”

In the sequel to Knives Out, legendary Deep South detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) returns to delve into a mystery surrounding tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) and his group of eccentric friends.

Unlike Monae, Craig is not a fan of board games. He said, “I’m just not into them.” “I love crossword puzzles. I do it, just to keep my brain working, but I’m not a great board game player. I’m going to join because I like company, but I’d rather chat around. I can’t take them seriously.”

As Christmas approaches, other members of the mega team talk about the games their families play during the holiday season. Leslie Odom Jr.’s family has a tradition of its own – a jigsaw game.

“It’s one of those big ones. Between Christmas and New Year’s, there’s always a jigsaw game and it brings people together during the day, just to put a few pieces in.”

Kathryn Hahn’s family is doing something a little more competitive — and she just hasn’t mastered it yet. “My husband’s family has a nut-rolling contest,” she explained.

“I don’t know how to explain it, but if you win, your name will be added to the trophy and let’s just say I didn’t win. I always miss nuts! I haven’t hit nuts yet! Maybe I’ll get nuts this year!”

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has already garnered a number of award nominations, including two Golden Globes – Best Motion Picture Musical (Musical or Comedy) and Best Actor (Musical or Comedy) for Daniel Craig.

Work is already underway on what is currently being referred to as Knives Out 3, though no release date has been revealed. Daniel Craig has been confirmed to return as Benoit Blanc, but the rest of the cast is still wrapping up, though it’s a fair bet there will be a whole new lineup.

Now, Craig, Mooney, and their co-stars, who also include Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson, Jessica Henwick, Madeline Klein, and some surprising cameos, are hitting Netflix just in time for Christmas.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will be released on Netflix on December 23rd. Watch a trailer below.
